Day 1: MRDC Console Install
The first part of the day was spent verifying the fact that the robot is not able to access the upper barrel of the magnet because of the placement of the helium manifold. The final placement of the magnet was determined by avoiding the nitrogen and helium stacks as well as fitting between the anti-vibration legs. The magnet at the time was suspended with the A-frame and the manifold was not yet attached. The manifold now restricts the z motion of the robot and the arm, turbine, and tube cannot fit under the manifold to get to the upper barrel. The magnet may need to be rotated 120°, stay tuned. The host computer was setup and the new console was placed and programmed as well.

The planned placement of the 768AS robot.

The access point chosen for the robot. Unfortunately, the manifold is too low.

The total height of the tube, turbine and robot arm about 9". The height available only 8.5".

Organizing office space to accommodate new host computer.

Hubert Nguyen from Varian here to install the new console system. Now installing second ethernet card into host computer.

Unpacking of the new console.

The new console in it's new home. The console is much more compact than the old systems.

New console layout.

Rear Interface panel. Less cabling necessary. No recabling to Tune and Match.

New pneumatic box. Replacing all the valves and flow meters usually found on the wall.
