Day 4: MRDC Console Install
On newer Varian systems there is an Insert/Eject switch on the upper stack. This allows for better sample control at the upper stack. Our first upper stack came with a broken switch so we needed a new one. The new Pneumatic Control box is very nice. There is one input for VT and sample regulation and one input for the anti-vibration legs. On 600 systems only one valve is used to control all three anti-vibration pistons. There is already pneumatics for solids available and an accessory valve for additions such as SMS or cryo-bay.

New upper stack with broken Insert/Eject switch. (Oops!)

Manostat to supply constant pressure for the helium bath.

New Upper stack in place.

Simplified air supply.

The new Pneumatics Router. On the vertical row of LEDs on the right one can see how the 'OFF' LEDs indicate where the ball is within the flowmeter, so VT flow can be checked from a distance. It can also be adjusted within vnmrJ.

All the valves are now within the Pneumatic router box.

Making shimmaps.
