Day 2: Final Placement, Evacuation and Leak Testing
The magnet was maneuvered into its final position and secured to the anti-vibration legs. Pumping began on the outer vacuum container (OVC) and will continue until a pressure of about 10-5 mbar or below. The OVC was leak checked with a helium gas detector and then the helium bath was secured. The helium bath was purged with helium gas also to check for leaks. Cooling of the helium bath and magnet began this evening using liquid nitrogen. Hopefully it will be at 100K by the morning.
