Day 3: Cooling (nitrogen) / Cooling (helium) Liquid nitrogen continued to cool the magnet and the helium bath for most of the morning. Liquid helium was used to bring the magnet and helium bath down to 100K. The vacuum continues to improve. Helium will begin accumulating in the bath late this afternoon and filling of the bath will continue into the evening. Charging of the magnet should begin tomorrow.
Cooling and filling of nitrogen bath.
Cooling of helium bath with liquid nitrogen.
A reading of 30 ohms will indicate a temperature of 100K. Not there yet.
